Many of us have been using Facebook for years. Others have just started and still others haven't gone there yet. Now, Google has a new service rampling up called "Google Plus" and it's designed to go beyond Facebook as a social tool.
What IS Google Plus? It's a new service that Google has in final testing right now. It already has an estimate 4.5 million people on the network and it's not even open to the public yet. We will be following Google+ as it develops. There are a lot of new ways to implement a lot of old ideas.
Meanwhile, Facebook has married up with Skype to provide another way to connect throught Facebook. With over 750,000,000 users now on Facebook, it's the biggest social network today. Linked-In, MySpace, Twitter, and other networks are all hoping to catch up with Facebook, but I think Google+ will actually bypass Facebook within a couple years.
Speaking of social networks... our forum on ATW has been seeing a lot of old friends returning to say Hi lately. Glad to see those folks back inside and having fun with embroidery again. :-)
If you have a smart-phone and use it for taking pictures and for social networking, you may want to check to be sure it doesn't automatically upload your photos to your online social networks without you knowing. It happens to a lot of people and can be embarassing if you're camera gets used without your knowlege. :-)
